Benteke joins Liverpool 'to win trophies'

Christian Benteke joins Liverpool from Aston Villa; Palace sign goalkeeper Alex McCarthy

Christian Benteke has an outstanding BPL record of 42 goals in 89 appearances

Summer 2015 transfers by Barclays Premier League clubs
The Belgium striker, who joined Aston Villa from Genk in 2012, impressed in his first season in the Barclays Premier League, scoring 19 goals in 34 appearances. He has maintained a top-flight scoring average of almost a goal every two matches in his three seasons in English football with 42 strikes in his 89 BPL outings for the Midlands club.

After agreeing a long-term deal with Brendan Rodgers' side the 24-year-old, who has also returned seven goals in 24 international appearances, told liverpoolfc.com that he is targeting silverware with the Merseysiders.
"I'm very happy to be here and I would like to thank the owners, Ian [Ayre] and of course the manager for their massive effort to bring me here," he said. "I think it was the right club for me because I had a good chat with the manager and I wanted to be part of his project.

"It's about winning trophies. It's about doing something in [my] career I can maybe explain to my son or my kids what I did."
